THERMODYNAMICS

Description of heat in relation to energy and work.

Heat was recognized as a form of energy. When it flows out of a body, the body loses internal energy; when it flows inside a body it gains internal energy.

We distinguish between

  • Equilibrium Thermodynamics
  • Kinetic Thermodynamics

  • The former is the classical one. It is concerned with state of equilibrium and not with the path between them. Equilibrium thermodynamics is not concerned with time. Kinetic thermodynamics -- is.
