The most important design and cost factors for a mixer/reactor are:

  • throughput
  • temp./pressure requirements

  • Larger mixer/reactors are harder to control, every mistake is more costly, and safety errors are more dangerous. A 10x pilot straregy is a prudent approach. Oftentimes two parallel half size reactors/mixers have an advantage over a single one.

Strict temp/pressure requirement, necessaiate auxiliary contraption, and much more complicated control circuitry.
